Today is World Mental Health Day, it is a day to raise awareness of mental health issues and fight against the social stigma it creates. According to the World Health Organisation, if we don’t act urgently toward mental health then by 2030 depression will be the leading illness globally.

Our attitude to mental health could change someone’s life. That’s why we advocate being an open workplace that provides its employees with a safe place to work.

Prioritising mental health has never been more important. We all play a part in making positive change, even though at times it can seem hard. And sometimes, it can be difficult to know where to start. It might be taking the first steps towards getting some help for yourself, or helping those around you.

This year has been especially hard and we’ve all found ourselves under pressure. Lockdown has affected us all in different ways, sometimes without us even be aware of the changes. It is only normal to feel uncertain about what the future holds, and the stress of this uncertainty could be having an impact on your mental health.

Whether it’s going for a walk, learning a new skill or doing something creative, taking the first steps to getting support is vital. This World Mental Health Day provides the opportunity to reach out and access help for yourself, your colleagues and your family and friends.
